Keep doing your best, it will pay off eventually. Don't worry about a social life -- you shouldn't have one when you're in college, you should be paying attention to your work. Because that's what it is, it's an audition for work in the real world. Try looking at the classes offered by your university and try to cherry pick the ones that you're interested in, or at least would be easy.
For me, it came down to a class on the History of the French Renaissance and Culture, or a class on Sex and Violence in Western Literature.
Guess which one I picked!
