can you unstop a commode with muratic acid?

Not advised at all. That's hydrochloric acid and it can even corrode stainless steel can really mess up your plumbing.

It would depend on why the system is clogged, but usually acid will react with metal piping (in addition to reacting with the clog, if it does) so it is avoided.

Normally you would use a caustic drain cleaner.

Try wet-vac. A vacuum cleaner people use to clean garage or larger spills like oil. It pulled my disposable shaver out. Under no surcumstances use the acid. Its extremely dangerous for you and the pipes, and not to mention the environment. That stuff dissolves bricks! Good luck!

Muriatic acid is very dangerous--make sure you are working in a WELL VENTED area and have safety equipment as the fumes CAN KILL YOU.

depends on what is plugging it.. a plunger is a preferred approach

Likely, it is stopped up further down. If you put acid in the toilet it could burp when flushed or worse overflow everywhere. Do not use acid unless you know what you are doing. Safety First. Go to outside cleanout, remove the cap and look for any flow. If it is dry you need a plumber.

In short, no.
As already noted, mechanical means are very often effective
As far as chemical means go, it depends on what's in there, but alkalais are more likely to be effective than acids
