What are russian probes?

A "probe" is a piece of machinery designed to send back very specific pieces of very specific information , like the Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Carbon Dioxide content of a planet's atmosphere, its average surface atmosphere temperature, and liquid water available, maybe a few thing like hydrocarbon chemicals (methane, etc) that may be available.. Nothing extensive, not a complete search for life or plants or things like that.
Since it is RUSSIAN, it was built by or for Russia, launched by or for Russia, etc.

Aliens from russia who are trying to take over the world

When the FBI does it, they're looking for Russian interference with American affairs - elections, business, government, etc...
When the Russian Space Agency does it, they're small devices sent into space or to other planets to find out more about them.
When the International Olympic Committee does it, they're looking for athletes with traces of illegal enhancement drugs in the Russian team.
And, there used to be a drink called a 'Russian Probe' that was made from vodka, grenadine, and a mixer, with an olive cut in half and suspended on a toothpick in the middle - it sorta looked like a radar dish.
It tasted terrible.
