Why is my hard drive overheating?

I get an overheating warning when it's only been on for a few minutes. It doesn't feel hot, but it says it's 55 degrees Celsius. It also constantly makes a grinding noise whenever it's on. It has 109,000 power on hours, and it was running 24/7 for over 12 years. I feel bad for turning it on... show more I get an overheating warning when it's only been on for a few minutes. Update: It seems to work, and there are no bad sectors or any other errors
