This isn't going to work. Mark my words. Rhonda so far has came in, literally contributing nothing...yet steals the spotlight from a wrestler the fans both WWE and NXT have invested heavily in-Asuka, and did the whole point thing. Not a bad premise, it was just a visual. But the fans will not see it the same. They will see Asuka, one that they have invested in going thru all the female wrestlers available to get a title shot at mania, only to have Rhonda walk out and openly claim she is the female star of mania...without even having a match yet or contributing to the company in any way.
Worse is when they announced her contract signing on Raw, nobody popped...because nobody honestly cares. Rhonda was a big draw, but that star died a horrible death in the UFC. Her pre loss actions only fueled her haters, though adored by her fans only for them also to bolt on her after she was exposed as a one trick judo pony.
She is simply not a draw and her personality isn't likeable. Her only avenue is a heel, yet for her to come and run thru a locker room only makes WWE talent look weak and WWE can't afford that. So she will be pushed as a face and fans will boo. Mark my words. Come Elimination Chamber her contract signing will be boo'd and she will be heckled. Her WrestleMania match with Steph will see the crowd disinterested. Stephanie has never given the fans the pay off like Vince has. She gets over on talent and never gives back the honor and the fans know this. They don't care to see her, they call that X-Pac Heat. Being a performer includes giving the fans what they want. Stephanie never has. So they have given up on her character. If she had they would've cheered her at mania over Rousey because wrestling fans are core believers in the art of wrestling, the adult ones that is.
Also the Mania crowds are cynical wrestling purists, or smarks. Mania and they night after are the best crowd nights of the year because of these smarks and they will be merciless on Rhonda. It should be interesting to see how Rhonda copes with so much distain and disinterest.
