This was the topic of a book, around 40 years ago, written by a man studying sociology (or at least in that field).
The world was (magically) split in two parallel halves, one with only women, one with only men.
As far as each half was concerned, people from the other sex simply disappeared. The first chapter of the book even dealt with all the sudden accidents:
for example, in the women's world, most airplanes piloted by men crashed; tons of traffic accidents as many cars simply continued without drivers. Women who were pregnant with male fetuses were suddenly empty, and so on. Fortunately, there were enough women scientists to develop techniques to have women become pregnant artificially: however, every time they would try to produce a male child, it would fail. Otherwise, their world stabilized and resume working as it was before.
The men's world sank a lot further. Houses burned down because the woman was preparing a meal when they all disappeared. Children went unfed. Male fetuses (dead) lying on the ground. Scientists tried to find ways to keep the race going, but it turns out to be far more difficult to make children without women, than for women to make children without men. The men's world does finally stabilize, but does not work as well as before.
The last chapter is about the two worlds (magically) merging again, with men suddenly finding themselves in a world where women are able to do everything that men used to do, but men cannot do everything women used to do. It will take men many generations until they are capable of creating and imposing another fake religion that justifies treating women as inferior beings.
Don't despair, they did it once, they can do it again.
