Pizza is very subjective. The best pizza I have ever had was not from NY but was at Vic's in Bradley Beach, NJ - thin crust with just the right consistency, spicy, tart sauce wwith garlic and high quality cheese but not too much. Many people do not like pizza like this - particularly if they are not from the NY / Philadelphia area. In the midwest in particular, the best pizza is thick and gooey. It should not be spicy. The sauce should be sugary, not tart and garlic should be used sparingly or not at all. The cheese should be very heavy and there should be lots and lots of it. There should be all kinds of different toppings - anything goes from bacon to pineapple to chocolate chips. Me. I'm a purist. Chicago style pizza is not pizza. Nor is Papa Johns, Dominoes and all the other chain stores. But obviously some people like it.
