It has been a while, but I liked my GMC (Chevy.) It was a new 1977 K2500, 400sb, auto, full time 4x4 (dodge transfer), 1 ton suspension. Kept it stock, stock 9.50-16.5 highway tires. NEVER had trouble off road.
IMHO, Chevy is just as good off road and reliable as the Toyota -- those that claim the Chevy isn't good ignore the fact that rednecks that abuse their vehicles prefer Chevy. More capacity is better in a truck.
