Should the Cubs try to trade for Giancarlo Stanton?

Recently, Stanton said he would consider a trade to the Cubs, along with the Yankees, Dodgers and Giants.

The Cubs could trade Schwarber, Happ, and maybe even Zobrist (or Baez depending on whom you prefer) or some minor league players for Stanton.

Heyward could move to center field, and Almora Jr. to left field.

Alex Cobb is a free agent from TB, who played under Maddon. so I think that can still happen. Ohtani's out, as he agreed to sign with the Angels. The Cubs recently signed Tyler Chatwood for three / $38 or something like that, so we still need one more starting pitcher.

When the Cubs get their TV deal, if that's still incoming, they will get a lot of money that could easily cover Stanton's contract, if the Marlins won't pay for any of it. And the only other big player contracts are Zo, (unless he's traded), Lester, Quintana and Rizzo. Q and Rizzo are pretty moderate contracts, compared to the rest in their positions. and all the other Cub stars are young and in their pre or coming soon to be arbitration deals. (Bryan, Russell, Hendricks for starters).

But you can't deny Stanton's bat in Wrigley Field would be a huge boost in our line up. While you need pitching really to win games, you still need to get runs on the board too, and we struggled with that last year, especially in the post season.

You seriously underestimate what they will have to give up for Stanton.

Cubs could've offered more for Stanton if the Marlins are just getting Castro and a couple prospects.

Breaking news today is that the yankees and marlins have agreed to a trade, however it's yet to be approved by Stanton. I could see a Stanton for Ian Happ trade with Dee Gordon being sent to Seattle. THe Cubs then could in turn trade Scwarber to Tampa Bay For Colome and Archer. Then I would move Heyward to LF and put Stanton in right with Almora in center. However Stanton would have to approve that deal as well.

the deal was just mainly to get him off their books, so they have money to spread around. the Cubs could have easily pulled that trade. i would've moved Heyward to CF, and Almora to LF. oh well.
