Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist born in the city of Stagira, Chalkidice. His writings cover many subjects – including physics, biology, zoology, metaphysics, logic, ethics, aesthetics, poetry, theater, music, rhetoric, psychology, linguistics, politics and government – and constitute the first comprehensive system of Western philosophy.

Answering this as a philosophical question, Aristotle is the father of your "western" mind. He is the reason why you don't live in a world where you shouldn't ask questions, shouldn't seek the "truth." Aristotle is alive, he lives in you and I. He lives through our knowledge of him. He is perhaps one of the oldest contributor to the modern human that is well known, other than Jesus. While the bible focuses on doing good and going to heaven, philosophy focuses on living in the now, and learning about your surroundings, about the universe and that is the reason why we have achieved so much thanks to philosophers such as Aristotle.
