When I was working with my(note I was too young to ride him since he threw everyone) I did a little bit of research on bonding activities. I started by working with a halter and lead, he was terrified of them, I started slowly in a small corral and soon I had him learning the halter is an ok thing, I was able to catch him in a huge cow field! Also once you have him listening with the halter try to lunge him before work, this will wear out his energy and he will be less motivated to fight. If he turns in a lot I could suggest (with extra panels) you can make a smaller ring inside, this will stop him from turning in. Put the saddle up slowly. I inched my saddle up his side slowly allowing him to move and get comfortable. I would also just set it on his back so he got used to it on his back,I lunged him in his saddle so he was used to moving in the saddle. Soon enough I was able to ride him.I would like to note this does take longer. I’m sure it won’t for you, my horse lives an hour away.
