Firstly anything that passes through the acid wash of the digestive system is sterile when it lands on the lawn.
Your well would have to be extremely shallow, like 10 feet shallow before a mountain of poo is going to bother it. Most of the dog poo fertilizes the water so you have that chocolatee flavor of dogshit.
The easiest thing to do is MOVE THE DOGS AWAY to a different hitching post(just dig a post into the ground like a fence post and they are there so away from the well.
Then you "No Step in it" which is a good thing. So now what are you gonna do about the cattle pee, horse pooh, seagullshit and the like that also feeds your water supply. Worry more about your septic tiles and the poopee water that issues forth from it and seeps into the water table.
Some places are poor places to have a well...like right next door to a landfill site or a sewage disposal site, or a piggery, or near a swamp. Just so you know.
