Heck Yes. It is about creating and maintaining jobs for a whole bunch of people that have paid a lot of money to receive a teaching credential. With that credential they learn to take a simple subject and stretch it from here to the moon.. This creates longevity for them to keep those precious jobs going until their retirement. It is the American way, now, for many decades in this country.
By law children must go to school to keep them off the streets for several hours. No one comes out knowing how to pay the bills, how to obtain a great job, how to apply for scholarships, brush their teeth, have good hygiene... dress properly, or be kind. Nothing that is needed to survive and be useful.
Now the rich ones have it a whole lot differently. They learn their p's and q's and how to beat the system(s) and to fill in all the blanks properly. The become the boss, the manager, the supervisor....they have friends and friends of friends in all the right places.
We need to knuckle down and make more demands for ALL....not just for the few....then it won't be so USELESS and the teachers and the students graduate with pride, and usefulness to move on upward and keep on going.
