Why did the cops in the Nurse wubbles wrongful arrest case want the blood of the accident victim so bad they were willing to arrest a nurse?
Why did the cops in the SLC Nurse wubbles wrongful arrest case want the blood of the accident victim so bad they were willing to arrest a nurse?
The hospital policy said the cops could only get blood if there is an arrest, warrant by a judge or consent of the patient.
Police were chasing a car that lost control and went into the wrong side of traffic and hit a semi-truck. It was the blood of the semi-truck that the police were violating all kinds of rules to get. What exactly did the truck driver do wrong(who was an off-duty cop from another state moonlighting at a truck driver) Please watch dash cam video in link below.
Can anyone explain what these cops were thinking?
The victim car accident
The arrest of the innocent nurse doing her job.

There are two reasons to request a blood draw
1. To prove the person was impaired by drugs or alcohol, or
2. To prove the person was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.
It is common in my area to ask persons involved in a major crash to voluntarily submit a blood sample. It is not common to demand one. That is why the nurse was awarded $500,000

The cop wanted the blood test to protect a fellow cop. He wanted to show that the semi driver was NOT drunk or taking drugs. But he took a horrible risk ... What if the blood test had shown that the semi driver was taking drugs? Or that he had AIDS ? It would be a gross illegal invasion of privacy.
