Physics Question (Best answer given)?

Two toy cars crash head on. The first is traveling east and is half the mass of the second car.

a. If the cars are initially traveling at equal speeds and the collision is perfectly inelastic, will the final velocity be pointed east or west? Why?

b. If the collision results in both cars coming to a halt, what can you say about the relative speeds of the two cars?

    a) west. Because the heavier one is going in that direction. With speeds equal, it has the higher momentum.

    b) momentum has to match, which is mV

    so given that one is half the mass of the other, that one (the lighter one) has to have twice the velocity of the heavier one, so that their momentum's match
