5/6x=-2/18
multiply LHS by 3/3
15/18x = -2/18
multiply both sides by 18
15x = -2
divide both sides by 15
x = -2/15
The goal is to use algebraic techniques to get x all by itself on one side of the equal sign and everything else on the other side.

multiply both sides by the multiplicative inverse of the coefficient of x..x = (6/5) ( - 2 / 18 ) = - 2 / 15

ambiguous
first guess: (5/6)x = –2/18
x = –(2/18)(6/5) = –(2/3)(1/5) = –2/15
second guess
5/(6x) = –2/18
–12x = 90
x = –7.5
