If she is intimidated by the gym, try the park. Now, before the winter snows arrive, begin a walking program at the park, the river, the lake, the hill, the beach, or start riding bicycles around town and offer to bring the drinks and a snack. By making the exercise fun instead of a tedious workout, she may join you more often and start training her own body to be better. We also roller-skate, swim at the community pool, do water aerobics, walk the dogs, hike the trails, and walk at the high school track at the football stadium for exercise. By asking her to make a walking program and make it normal, she can slowly work up to your level of good health on her own terms. Then, when she looks better, compliment her, but also help her pick out clothes that properly fit her body. Sometimes people have no clue how to shop for clothes that fit correctly and show off their body properly! By making exercise fun rather than a chore, she may come around to actively seeing personal good health, and will become more happy with her own body as a result. Good luck.
