    SETI is a viable, although questionable, project.

    Time teravel is im[possible.

    No this is impossible since the earth an the solar system move at 500,000 mph around the galaxy. This is 4.383 billion miles per year. You would need a very fast rocket ship to catch the earth if you went back or forward even one year

    Both are a waste of time and money. SETI is privately funded and private persons can waste their money any way they like. I know nothing of the "quest for time travel" and I'm not going to bother to find out.
