The only thing that has made sense to me is that we were created by an intelligent designer, named God Almighty (well, that's His title), and he created us and this world to be companions for himself. All went well until a certain angel named Lucifer decided that angels didn't need God's Law (the moral law, in the Ten Commandments) to tell them what was right and what was wrong. He planted doubts in the minds of many angels, and as is says in Revelation 12, there was war in heaven, and the dragon (called the Devil and Satan) was kicked out, along with his supporters, which was about a third of the angels. Satan came down to Earth and conned Eve into doubting God and eating from the forbidden tree (a test of loyalty to God). She conned Adam into doing the same, and they became separated from God (at least visibly). Satan then became the prince of this world. God could have destroyed him outright, but that wouldn't make the other angels, or any other created beings, serve Him out of love, but out of fear. So God has allowed this planet to be used as a testing ground for Stan's form of government. Well, you can see how that's worked out. Humans have become more and more evil. God had to wipe them off the face of the earth once already (saving only 8) using a flood, and next time it's going to be with fire. You can see evidence of the flood in layers of rock all around the world. God wants us to reconnect with Him, so He sent His son to become human to relate to us and tell us what God is like. (Not what Satan portrays Him as, like an evil sadist.) If you want to know if God is real, then pray to Him, ask Him to manifest Himself to you. He works in many ways to arrange things for the benefit of humans. He has arranged for a rescue plan, but to qualify you need to accept His plan of rescue (salvation) and agree to live by His government's laws. (Back to the ten commandments) God worked through prophets to tell humans what He and His government are like, made promises to humans if they would just let Him clean them up mentally and spiritually. Read the New Testament. The gospels tell you what God requires of man, and the epistles tell you how to accomplish that. It's about living a noble life, putting away the naughtiness (called sin) and choosing to love rather than hate.
