Do I think christians should leave Israel? I think christians should be allowed to visit Israel but should respect Jewish beliefs and not evangelize (which is what Hillsong is trying to do for example!). Be in the know!
The Torah says to love all people and be kind to the foreigners who enter into the land of Israel. Even an idolater (Akum) we are commanded in the Torah and Talmud not to wrong him/her or cheat/steal from them. But idol worship according to Jewish law is strictly forbidden. All religious Jews are to oppose any action that propagates idolatry.
Are christians idolaters? For non-Jews christianity is not idolatry, but for Jews christian beliefs are idolatrous. To believe God became a human being, died for your sins, can have an image in human form, must be venerated or worshiped is idolatry. Since Christians believe God is a trinity and they err in believing God took human form, it is not their fault. In fact before Yitro (Jethro) converted to Judaism, the Torah calls him the "Priest of Midian". Because his understanding at his level was higher than everyone else's. And he wasn't taught Judaism, yet the Torah gives him honor by calling him a priest!
Christians aren't bad people. They are not our enemies. In fact if christians donate to Jewish organisations - while we cannot use their money to build synagogues and yeshivas and holy books - anything which is "kadosh"/"holy", we can use their money to feed Jewish families and provide clothing or medicine etc.
And we love these people. And we bless them and pray for them that they should be well, that God should protect them etc.
But we HATE missionaries who try to entice Jews to leave Judaism. The Torah says as one of the 613 commandments "You shall HATE the mesit (missionary)". Even your own kin! This has nothing to do with hating gentiles but everything to do with hate evangelists who try to turn us away from Hashem. These people we hate and we curse.
Deuteronomy 13:9 "Do not love the missionary", "Do not cease hating the missionary", "Not to save the missionary", "Not to say anything in his defense", "Not to refrain from incriminating him". So I do agree with those orthodox Jews telling missionaries not to proselytize.
If they are not, and it's just to provoke christians. Such action is uncalled for. Christians who share their faith "In the name of Jesus", "In the name of the trinity", "quoting christian scriptures to Jews" or public displays of Christianity...or Buddhism or Hinduism is not welcome in our communities. If you went to a synagogue and starting preaching about Jesus we would tell you to stop and if you kept going ask you to leave.
Respect our culture, customs and religion and no one will insult you. My 5 cents for today :)
