You may have acid reflux. That is a gastric sort of thing, and can cause irritation or inflammation in the throat from acid traveling back up the esophogas. Try eating more healthy foods, and less sugars and carbohydrates. You also might see if the doctor will give you a vitamin B12 shot. But, if you have been eat a lot of sugar and wheat, corn, bread, cereal, etc., you won't digest your foods properly, and it can cause a yeast infection. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and more protein.
Although the acid-reducing meds might help, if this is actually the cause of your swallowing issues, they don't actually solve the cause of the problem, and also come with a host of potential side effects.
But, of course, you could have something else entirely, going on, so you should consult with the doctor, either way.
