1. Calculate the volume of oxygen at STP which could be obtained from 75cm^3 of hydrogen peroxide solution which has a concentration of 68 g/dm^3.

2.2 Write balanced ionic equation of this reaction.

    2 H2O2 → 2 H2O + O2

    (0.075 dm^3) x (68 g/dm^3 H2O2) / (34.015 g H2O2/mol) x (1 mol O2 / 2 mol H2O2) x (22.414 dm^3/mol) =

    1.7 dm^3 O2

    5 H2O2 + 2 MnO4{-} + 6 H{+} → 5 O2 + 2 Mn{2+} + 8 H2O

    So you should observe that oxygen gas is evolved in the form of bubbles, and that the purple color of the permanganate ions disappears.

    3 H2SO4 + 2 MnO4{-} + 5 H2O2 → 2 MnSO4 + SO4{2-} + 5 O2 + 8 H2O
