This is not a "people from India" thing. It's a foreign culture issue where manicured lawns are not common everywhere.
In India, you have monsoon season around July to September. In many parts of India, they have drought at other times of the year. So their home may not even have a proper lawn to maintain. And no Indian family would think of wasting a precious commodity like drinking water just to make their lawn stay green.
And as I said, you don't have to be from India to be indifferent to lawn care.
Where I used to live, my neighbor hardly ever maintained their lawn. It was just weeds that they mowed once every week or two. Their retriever used to use the front lawn as his personal pooping zone. Meanwhile, my parents' yard was near perfection. My dad mowed it regularly, my mom was out there pulling crabgrass and dandelions.
There are extremes, and you don't need to be a visible minority immigrant on whether you take care of it or not.
