What would have happened to 8 Simple Rules if John Ritter hadn't died?

Everyone who's watched 8 Simple Rules and is a fan of John Ritter knows that the show went downhill following his death, and was changed entirely to focus on Cate and the kids, with her dad and nephew stepping in to help. If John were still alive today, would the show have lasted longer?

No. The show was not that good nor that funny. Just because they were on popular sitcoms does not mean that putting them together will make the show funny. And let's not forget Cuoco. She is not a good actress by any means. On the Big Bang Theory, she is the worst actress on the show.
