If you want a taxi ride for long distance, does that normally require advance notice or will they do that on the spot?

Update:

like say, a 2 1/2 hour drive from Columbus to Cleveland.

Call the taxi company, the dispatch will make a call out to all the driver in you vicinity. The drivers that are interested will reply and you will get a call back saying the driver is in his way.

You might have better luck and maybe cheaper rates if you look into limousine/car/van services. There may be some that advertise the route that you want to go.

as long as they have gas in their tank i don't wee why they wouldn't :P unless you are talking about multiple days drive. Then probably yes you might need advanced notice.

They may do it on the spot, but your chances are better if you book it ahead.

Bet if you call the TAXI company, you'll get a more accurate answer.
