It depends on school policies, the professor, the seriousness of the "cheating." E.g. plagiarism, copying another's work without permission, is actually a copyright violation & a criminal offense. Copyright infringement is a crime, not just "dishonesty."
Possible penalties, depending on professor's assessment, school policy, and the actual nature of your offense, can range from grade of F - failing the course, to academic probation, suspension, or expulsion. Study your school's policies on academic dishonesty, cheating, etc, to see what possible penalties & procedures are involved considering what you specifically did.
