My dad is sending me to live with a relative in NC because of some family troubles.

Depends on where you live. It's the south, different social rules than the north, yes..even in 2017. It's warmer, rare to get snow, humid in summer. Different foliage than north. There's more to do in North Carolina, research on-line thru the town you are going to or nearest bigger town, Chamber of Commerce has break down of demographics, schools, employment, tourist sites, ect..good luck!
