What is the constant sum of the ellipse with foci at (-5, 0) and (5, 0) that passes through the point (5, 4)?

    Let the foci be F(-5, 0) and G(5, 0), and let a point on the curve be P(5, 4).

    For any other point on the curve, the sum of its distances from the foci is equal to this constant:

    PF + PG

    Use the distance formula.
