Did Scientology founder L. ron Hubbard make Scientology up as a straight up scam or did he really believe in it?

I always just assumed he designed Scientology as a money making scam. But recently I watched some Scientology documentaries and it sounds like Hubbard eventually started believing in his own scam. He actually spent many hours a day on that e-meter device. Supposedly he was suffering from mental illness and was try to cure himself.

Scam to avoid paying taxes and paying taxes on money received from its member's. But, they have made it "their" religion.

He told his friends that for anyone to make any real money they had to start a religion, so he did.

Hey Robert, looks like you decided to Troll "anonymously" this time.

Recommend you quit watching those Scientology documentaries, they seem to be upsetting to you.

Quit worrying about what someone else believes in or knows .

Stick with what YOU know and believe in. Become a better TROLL :o)

If Hubbard actually believed in Scientology, he was hopelessly insane.

Initially, it was a way to make money and nothing more. I don't know anything about his later years, but it wouldn't surprise me.
