A sector of a circle has a central angle of 60°. Find the area of the sector if the radius of the circle is 21 mi.

The area of the entire circle is πr² = π·21² = 441π mi².

A 60° sector represents 60°/360°, or 1/6 of the circle.

Therefore, the area of the sector = 1/6 of 441π mi² = 147π/2 mi² ≈ 230.9 mi²

Area = pi r squared 60/360

= 22/7 x 21 x 21 x 1/6 = 231 mi sq
