Is the human soul immortal?

"Immortal" means "cannot die" , So if anyone or anything can kill the soul, it is not immortal. Hence the question.

The human soul isn't any more mortal than the souls of animals. The Hebrew word נָ֫פֶש, (ne′phesh) is translated as "soul" in most Bible translations, when speaking of mankind, but as "creature", when speaking of animals. Ezekiel 18:20 describes the human soul as being mortal:

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die..." (KJV), and Genesis 2 reveals that when created, a soul is what man became: "7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (KJV)

The Hebrew word ר֫וּחַ, (ru′ach) is translated as "breath" or as "spirit", depending upon one's Bible translations.

Psalm 104 describes it as what people, (souls), lose when we die: "29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust." (KJV)

Recalling that Genesis 2 tells us that God added the breath of life to the man to make him a living soul, Psalm 104 confirms that breath, (or spirit), is the difference between a soul and a living soul.

This certainly complicates doctrine if one wishes to believe that either man's soul or his spirit is immortal. However, this isn't the only complication for that doctrine:

"4For to him that is joined with all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6As well their love, as their hatred and their envy, is perished long ago; neither have they any more a portion for ever in anything that is done under the sun."

"10Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest." - Ecclesiastes 9 (ASV)

That is the church teaching, but the Bible teaches the truth. A God of justice does not burn and torture someone forever because of the actions of a few years. "The wages sin pays is death." Romans 6:23

Yes. They will bury our bones but the Soul lives on. I can hardly wait to get my new body in heaven. I won't be blind, deaf, wrinkled, tired or in pain :)

No. Notice that Adam became a living soul when the Lord put his spirit into him. Living beings are living souls. The souls are not immortal yet, but they will be after the resurrections.

No. The soul is the person. The person can be destroyed.

The soul is the combination of the spirit and body.

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground (or elements of the earth), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (or his spirit); and man became a living soul"

The spirit is eternal. Our physical body is not. However, that will be fixed.

Paul said that: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming." First Corinthians 15:22,23

The atonement corrects 2 kinds of death which includes physical death (the separation of our spirit from our body) and spiritual death (our separation from God that began when Adam was cast out of the garden). Thus, all will be resurrected and return to the presence of God for judgement.

The resurrection of the faithful members of the church began just after Christ was resurrected.

"And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many." Matthew 27:52, 53

There is no evidence of anything like a "soul".
