Cadillac CTS, pulled up code P0008?

The check engine light on my 06 Cadillac CTS, 2.8, came on recently, so I hooked up a code reader and came up with P0008. I researched timing chain issues and my car doesn t seem to make a rattling noise at idle or have the other symptoms, but maybe the chain isn t too bad at this point because the light just came on? The car does have a problem starting, progressing recently. Sometimes it ll turn over but then stall right after. And sometimes I ll turn the key and nothing, the engine won t even try to start. Any help with what the problem could be? Anything helps.

    Possible causes:

    Engine mechanical problems

    Incorrect timing chain

    Stretched timing chain

Failed camshaft actuator or actuator solenoid

There is a factory service bulletin for the following Cadillac models: 2004-2008 Cadillac CTS SRX 2005-2008 Cadillac STS

The service bulletin suggestss replacing the primary drive and both secondary drive timing chains. Contact your Cadillac dealer for more information. The repair could still be cover under factory warranty.

Poor material and workmanship let the engine develop this condition. Have the timing chain and gears replaced by a Cadillac specialist.
