What does "Kp N" mean in an address in Pierce County, Washington?

I have seen lots of addresses in the Tacoma/Pierce County area in Washington State that end in Kp N. What does it mean?

I used to live out there. KPN means "Key Pennisula". I'm not sure why every address has it, but it does! I'm assuming it has something to do with the mail, and similar addresses not on the Pennisula. It's possible that it has the same zip code as Gig Harbor or Purdy. (I never noticed)

The Key Pennisula is to the west of Gig Harbor. You get there by going across the Purdy Spit. By the time you are at the end of it, you are looking across at Olympia.
