How can I keep my sand volleyball court dry?

Whenever it rains my outdoor volleyball court gets soaked which ultimately causes the sand to get packed down and almost as hard as dirt. Basically very bad playing conditions for anything competitive, I then have to till (churn up) the sand which takes hours and is ruined only days later when it rains again. Does anyone know a cost effective way to keep an outdoor sand volleyball court dry without building a permanent roof over the court?

You could try spreading fresh sand over the wet sand. That would create a layer of workable surface you could play on.

Prior to rain, get blue tarps and cover your sand. You may need to weigh them down so they stay in place, then remove when it's sunny again.

    Play when it never rains.

I enjoyed playing here a lot.
