There's no largest size. 64-bit Operating Systems can detect hard disks that are larger than 2 TB
According to Microsoft document, partitions on 64-bit OS can be created to a theoretical limitation of 9.4 ZB (9.4 zetta bytes, or 9.4 billion terabytes)
Therefore, massive 48TB storage array (like this one - https://www.amazon.com/Drobo-B810n-Hybrid-Storage-... ) can be fitted with 8x 3.5” SATA HDDs or SSDs and used alongside your Alienware laptop

SSD drives are typically all the same size. Physical dimensions of drives conform to a standard
