You have probably tried to cash your check by now, but just in case. First, I'm a BOA customer. The answers above are not quite all encompassing. IF you have sufficient funds in your account, they will cash the check for you. Also assuming NOT a check drawn on a BOA account, because they would check the balance in that account and cash your check if it had sufficient funds. But since you asked about depositing it, and know they will put a hold on your funds after deposit, then you probably don't have enough to cover the check in your account. BOA is entitled to hold your check funds (usually give you a small amount of provisional credit) when it's deposited, to make sure the check is good. It doesn't take long, that's why 2-3 days is usual wait period. If it was a cashier's check or certified check from another bank, then they would probably give you instant credit.
Now, you can bring the check to the bank it's drawn on. Hopefully they have a branch close to you. BOA is one of the horrible ones about this. I think they charge non-account owners a fee to cash checks drawn on their customer's accounts. I don't truly think that is legal but then I haven't personally had to deal with it. So there may be a small check cashing charge. But they should cash your check with sufficient ID, providing there are enough funds in that company's account to cover your check.

Walk inside and tell the cashier "I want $20 worth on pump #3", or however much on whichever pump you're at (pumps are clearly marked with a number). Pay and then go pump your gas. It will stop automatically at the amount you ask for, at least it will if the cashier has the first clue about what they are doing.

You park your car, walk inside the Gas station and tell the cashier what number pump you are and how much you want on it like $20, $30, etc.
Then you walk your happy butt back to your car, fill up the tank and drive away.
Its just like paying with credit card.. but with extra steps like walking inside and all...

Look at what pump you're at, go into the actual gas station, and tell them you want $X on pump number - whatever pump it is - and they'll ring you up like any other transaction.

Walk up to the cashier and hand him the cash, and tell him which pump you're parked next to .

You go into the store, plunk down your bills and ask them to turn on the pump.
