If Australia whitewashes South Africa do they regain the #1 ranking?

Australia is 7 points below India what happens if Australia win this series 3-0 could they go up by enough points to topple India?

There is also a series against Pakistan to follow. if Australia win that as well then surely they will be #1 again?

Even if they whitewash South Africa, I don't believe Australia could topple India from that No.1 ranking. You see, South Africa are below Australia in rankings, as per the the ranking system, you earn comparatively lesser points by defeating a lower ranked team. Overseas and home conditions are also taken in regard. Winning in home gives you lesser points than winning overseas.

As Saleem said, a whitewash will give Australia 4 pts, so they may just overtake Pakistan. A whitewash against Pakistan will give help them reach the Rank 1 spot again. But I don't see Australia will be able to whitewash SA and Pakistan and with India-England series happening, it will be nearly impossible to topple India from the top position.
