Should I trade a Colt Defender .45ACP bought in 2008 with 1000 rounds through it for s SIG Sauer p224 .357 sig pretty much brand new?

NO! There is nothing you trade for a .357 sig chambered gun. The caliber was designed to solve a problem that few people have, to shoot through barriers. Otherwise is unnecessarily expensive and high recoil compared to 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.

No, your defender is a $1200 gun and the ammo is another $300 to $400 depending on brand and type. The Sig is not worth that much.

I'm thinking Tucker is one of those that will need other people telling him what to do his whole life. A 1000 rounds hasn't even began to cause wear on that firearm..... dohhhh
