Usually 9th or 10th, maybe even 11th - it would depend on their birthday and the cut off date wherever they go to school. Each state and even some individual school districts set their own cut off date that determines the day that a child has to turn 5 years old by to start kindergarten (the first year of school that precedes 1st through 12th grade). In most places it's September 1st (which is right around the beginning of the school year) but in some places it's as early as June or as late as December. So the general answer is if the person was 15 by the cut off date, they would be in 10th grade, and if they turned 15 after the cut off, they would be in 9th grade. But currently, since we're still in the beginning of the school year, most 15 year olds would be in 10th grade, and assuming the cut off is September 1st, only those who have just turned 15 since Sept. 1st would be in 9th grade. But then in a place where the cut off isn't till December, that actually means that some 15 year olds can be in 11th grade, if they are going to turn 16 within the next couple of months.

High school freshman also known as 9th grade. That's the year one turns 15. Lots of 10th graders are 15 going on 16.

Usually 9th grade, but those with summer birthdays are 15 in 10th grade.

9th (if just turning 15 or later turning 15 during the school year or the following summer) or 10th (if 15 but turning 16 sometime during the school year or the following summer), normally. Occasionally, 11th if 15 but turning 16 by the end of the first semester of the school year, or 8th if turning 15 at the end of the school year and/or the following summer.
