Arnold Palmer was a professional golfer. He was active during the 1950s to 1980s. If you compare Tiger Woods to him, well he was as good as Tiger or maybe even better (he got a unique swing). He is one of the golf legends from players such as Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Gary Player. During the masters tournament at Augusta, those golf legends used to play together even after they were retired. Arnold, Jack and Gary.

Although I have never seen Arnold playing during his prime, I can tell that he was a very good player based on his golf swing. One of his signature move is to wiggle the club above his head after he hit a shot. Using hickory clubs, he was able to hit his driver around 270 yards. If he had been using titanium woods that would translate to 300 yards which what most young PGA Tour players hit today.

Another thing you should know that he has a signature polo shirt. The brand name? "Arnold Palmer". These polos are being sold at most department stores at Macy's and Shopping malls. And they are not golf polos.... just casual polo shirts.

Former pro golfer, philanthropist, inventor of the ice tea and lemonade drink, and overall a legend in the sports world

  • The greatest sportsman to play professional golf. The man who gave birth to the modern PGA Tour. Most of what you see pros doing today is because of him. A man's man. Sport (and the game of golf) is the richer for having him part of it and is poorer to see him pass away Sunday night.
