Let's put it this way. If the militant Palestinians put down their weapons today, There would be peace tomorrow and they would have a country the next. If Israelis put down their weapons todays, they would be driven into the sea tomorrow.

It is contributor Zhu who is uninformed: As an attempt at "land for peace" Israel gave the Palestinians autonomy of the West Bank and Gaza, anticipating negotiating a peace treaty. Since then the Palestinians refuse to negotiate any peace treaty, claim the whole of Israel, and target Jews as policy.

The inhabitants of the now Palestine area were originally told by the surrounding Arab nations to leave Israel in 1947/48. That they would shortly be allowed to return to the dissolved Israel lands. Arab nations refused to accept the very refugees their warnings to 'get out' created. The area in question a part of the British Mandate area of control. Which was originally and for centuries a part of the Ottoman Empire hegemony. No actual state existing there since the fall of Judea during Rome's Empire.

The crux of the matter is that Israel is a UN recognized Nation as of 1948. The surrounding nations refuse to accept this. The side you land on depends on whether you believe the United Nations has a right to set aside a homeland for a people? Or, if you believe the sword decides where a people should be and whom controls a given area of land? De Facto vs De Jure.

Contributor "Don't Fear ..." is correct about Israel being a U.N. recognised state. Just to be clear: Israel is the re-creation of the Jewish state. The previous indigenous state prior to Israel, was the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasmonean_dynasty

  • Over the centuries, different peoples have moved across the globe to take over territories previously occupied by other people. The Angles and Saxons displaced the Celts, European settlers displaced Native Americans and Ottoman Turks displaced the Byzantine Greeks. People object to having their homeland taken away and tend to react violently.

The Palestinian people have been living in the Middle East for at least 6,000 years. The Hebrew people who occupied Jerusalem between 538BC and AD70 were dispersed around the Roman Empire. Most converted to Christianity, but small numbers remained in North Africa where they regrouped around 200 years later to form the religion we now call Judaism. That would have remained a Middle Eastern peculiarity had the religion not been adopted by Baltic farmers around 1,000 years later.

Most of the Jewish population of the State of Israel are descendants of Baltic Jews. Their historical claims are bogus. The State of Israel was the result of a policy of terrorism, ethnic cleansing and genocide largely orchestrated from the USA. It can only be maintained by violence.

Those who were born in Israel and Palestine have a right to live there. They don't have a right to murder each other. There will be no peace until they learn to live together and share their land.

Israel are war criminals this isn't propaganda like the above it is the UNs verdict the Palestinians are the native people that's like asking who was right the British settlers or the native Americans even the us apologizes for the mass genocide of the native Americans and by the way there is no Palestinian military and if we ever decided to stop funding israel we would be the new terrorists according to the war criminals

Due to the Arab states' massive block-vote in the UN, if the Arab states really wanted it, they could probably get the UN to state that pigs can fly! Unfortunately therefore, the UN is so biased that it is now incapable of adding a credible contribution to any peace process.

Palestine was there until Israel was created in part of Palestine. That would have been fine by now and there would have been peace if Israel had stayed within the borders it agreed to. However, Israel broke the agreements and continues to break international law to this day by taking more and more land, occupying the whole of Palestine and subjecting Palestinians to inhuman treatment.

If the western world knew what really happens in Palestine they would judge israel differently.

Israel... Humans have moved everyplace on earth. The Israeli claim to the land is far older. They were kicked out and then the Palestinians usurped their land.

Then, the land was in the control of the ottoman Turks and the Israelis bought the land (yes, paid for it) that was theirs to begin with and returned to their homeland.

They were perfectly willing to coexist with the Palestinians but the Palestinians refused to coexist. They vowed to drive the Jews into the sea.

Israel offered Transjordan for peace and Jordan was created. They were answered with bombs. They offered 80% of the remainder of Israel and they were answered with bombs.

I could go on but the big truth is if the Palestinians put down their weapons, there will be peace. If the Jews put down their weapons, they will cease to exist.

Time and time again, Israel is attacked and they fight and win. The Palestinians just won't stop.
