Sorry if this may sound stupid but I'm just wondering. If you buy a BPA free water bottle but the water you're putting in it is from a plastic bottle that has BPA wouldn't you just be transferring the BPA from the plastic to the BPA free water bottle?

BPA is not found in water naturally. It is a chemical used in the production of plastic.

The BPA is a chemical that is a part of the plastic content. While it can and does leach into water, it is not going to come out of the water and embed itself into another type of plastic. If you remove the water and wash it out, then it is clean again.
