Are Christians really the homophobic ones?

Hmm... Let's look at the facts.

1) Argentina- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

2) Belgium- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

3) Spain- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

4) South Africa- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

5) Portugal- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

6) Brazil- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

7) France- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

8) UK- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

9) Uruguay- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

10) Mexico- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

11) Finland- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

12) Ireland- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

13) Canada- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

And Finally...

14) The United States- Majority Christian - Gay Marriage Legal

So out of 21 countries where Gay Marriage is legal, 14 of them have Christian Majority populations...

Meanwhile... let's look at other religion statistics...

Muslim Countries- Not one country which gay marriage is legal. Plus, in Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia and many others it is ILLEGAL to have gay sexual acts.. You can be imprisoned or killed...

Jewish Countries- Israel- Gay Marriage Not Legal

Hindu Countries- Nepal, Gay Marriage Illegal, India, Gay Marriage Illegal, Gay Sex punishable by imprisonment. ---

Update:

Also... no Buddhist country has Gay Marriage as Legal

Update 2:

I know that in MOST Christian countries Gay Marriage is NOT Legal, but at least out of the 21 countries where it is legal, 14 of them have Christian Majority Populations... Do you find that weird?

Update 3:

Out of the 21 countries where Gay Marriage include Legal, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway.. which are ATHEIST... but Estonia, Czech Republican, China, and Japan are also Atheist countries that don't accept Gay marriage... So don't try to tell me that all Atheists accept Gay Marriage.

Update 4:

Christians are bigots?? Hmm... what about Atheists who go on a Christian section of Yahoo Answers and keep hating on Christians?? What about Atheists who claim that all religious people are bad?? What about Atheists who want to ban all religions?? What about Atheists who get offended by religious symbols?? People are bigots, not religions.

There were people who opposed the abolition of slavery, emancipation for women, the banning of discrimination of women, the attempts to eradicate racism and now the need to eradicate homophobia!

Taking one sin to indulge in intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution will never be acceptable in the eyes of God!

Christian leaders from around the world have clearly stated their opposition to the "victimization or diminishment" of gays and lesbians, saying demonizing and persecuting them was "totally against Christian charity and basic principles of pastoral care".

"We say that no one should have to live in fear because of the bigotry of others."

The Mormons poured millions into forcing through prop 8 in CA: to ban gay marriage. In August 2010 the court held that to be unconstitutional. On 15 June 2011 the San Francisco court upheld that decision because it violates the constitutional rights of citizens. On 7 February 2012 the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck the California law again finding that the California state constitution banning same-sex marriage violated principles of due process and equal protection under the law.

The court found that the ban violated equality laws to target a minority group and withdraw a right that it possessed, without a legitimate reason for doing so. Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California. The constitution simply does not allow for laws of this sort.

The Supreme Court upheld the early court decision and has now stated that gay marriage is legal in ALL STATES! Thus gay marriage is legal and anyone who shows intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution towards them faces the CRIMINAL LAW and the charges are rated as HATE CRIME with severe sentences!

Sadly Christianity is being destroyed and criminalized by people who use the bible as their excuse for totally unchristian behaviour.

The loving god works in mysterious ways.

I will grant you that Christians (especially Western Christians who tend to be less religious) are less homophobic than Muslims, in general. India is an interesting example, as homosexuality was not illegal before imperialist Christians took it over. But where gay marriage has been made legal, the main opponents to it were Christians.

That is a good question. It may be just a legacy of Western Imperialism, or it may have happened anyway, even if India had remained independent.

Christianity, like those other religions, is homophobic.

But nobody takes Christianity seriously anymore. That's why "christian" countries don't have a problem with gay marriage. They are not really christian, fortunately.

If you take your magic book seriously, you shold be homophobic. You are a bad christian, and that's great.

    "Homophobic" is a made-up word.

Nobody is afraid of homosexuals. No, it goes much deeper that that.

You seem to misunderstand why people who believe God are opposed to the rampant propagation and cultural endorsement of the sin of homosexuality.

Why do Christians oppose homosexuality? And homosexual "marriage?"

Because we believe God. We believe God has given us a moral code to live by, and we understand this is an abomination because God said so. And even our common sense tells us this is against nature.

We oppose this because WE FEAR GOD'S JUDGMENT.

I am not talking about individual judgment. Christians are not subject to judgment because we are forgiven. But we are still part of this nation where we live.

The Bible makes it clear that nations are judged by God. And based on the cultural changes we are seeing in our nation, it seems very apparent that we (as a nation) are turning our backs on God. And we are seeing signs that God is WITHDRAWING HIS HAND OF PROTECTION on this nation.

Part of God's hand of protection is the RESTRAINT OF EVIL. And now we are seeing signs that God is not protecting us from evil. EXAMPLE: When a guy with a gun goes into a grade school, and kills little children, this is an example of evil not being restrained. The Boston Marathon bombing is another example of evil not being restrained. And do you remember that movie theater shooting? And these other more recent school shootings? And what about that shooting in San Bernardino, California? We can expect to see more of this as we continue to reject God. When we reject God, then God rejects us. That's what it says in the Bible.

Our crumbling economy, high unemployment, corrupt politicians, the national debt that will crush the next generation, trillions of dollars in school loan debt, are all signs that things are falling apart. (Refer to 2 Chronicles 7:14.)

History has shown us that nations rise, flourish, and eventually decay. And the decay always comes from within. It is the natural course of things. Is our nation on the decline at this point? Most people would say that it is.

Yup...American conservative Christians are the homophobes.

Of course, the Catholic Church is pretty homophobic, too.

That's because Christianity has two different Jesus's. The Conservative right's Jesus, a businessman from Jerusalem, who's gripe is big government and who wants to make Nazareth great again by banning the gays.

And the Liberal Jesus, who is the original Jesus we find in the bible, who hates rich *** holes, and preaches about loving others and turning the cheek

Yes, we only recently succeeded in improving gay rights in the west.

Muslims are MORE homophobic than you, but that doesn't change the fact that many Christians are bigots.

No genuinely Christian country would legislate in support of men marrying men, or women marrying women. I think what you meant to say is that 14 countries you have named, which are controlled by secular humanists who despise Christian values, have legislated in favour of homosexual marriage.

Depends how you define Christians I guess. People who write that on their census form, or people who are? Either way, it doesn't matter. The politicians make policy, & they're waging a war against Christianity. To refer to a "Christian" country having homosexual marriage is a contradiction in terms.
