USAA vs Navy Federal Credit Union?
Witch bank is better for banking for a recruit.

we have both. Navy Fed for our checking/savings and credit card, USAA for our insurance needs.
USAA only has physical locations in TX. they are pretty generous with the ATM policy though(refunding fees, etc). Navy Fed will be found on pretty much every single base in the world that stations Squids. yes even Lackland and Ft Meade( AF and Army respectively) had one within 15 miles.
you honestly cannot go wrong with either one.

The NFCU is pretty much a standard credit union.
USAA is an association owned by its policy holders. At the end of each year any finances not paid out in insurance losses and operating expenses are distributed into the owners (policy holders) "Subscribers Savings Account."

They both have their ups and downs it all depends on what you want.
USAA has only a few actual banks the rest is done via mail or online. So you have to mail in checks or can scan if approved.
Navy Fed has branches around the world at the bases and agreements for ATMs.

USAA was originally set up for officers. Besides banking it offers home and car insurance so you can do everything with one company.
