A lot of the people I see with a Confederate flag are racist, but once again, the flag is not sentient and can't form opinions, it is a piece of dyed fabric, nothing more.

Fabric cannot be racist, but the people who use it can. The US Flag had a chance to redeem itself, with the mythology of democracy, freedom, human rights. The Confederacy died during the Rebellion, so it never had a chance to ultimately redeem its symbols (it may never have had the inclination, however).

Its symbolizes racism. It symbolizes pride for and fighting for slavery. It was only revived during the civil rights era to fight equality. So yes it is racist and anybody who says otherwise is a liar or very uneducated. Not surprised if both. Thats a big requirement to be a right wing admirer of the confederacy.
