install windows 10 on a brand new ssd useing a boot usb stick?

my laptop has a 1TB hard drive which is very slow,if i bought an evo 850 ssd and replaced old hard drive could i simply reinstall windows 10 with a boot usb rather than having to clone my old drive?

    If you have already activated your copy of windows on the existing hardware then yes just use a windows 10 boot USB and it should install an activate on the SSD

    Your hardware details and activation will have been sent to Microsoft servers already, so the new setup should activate automatically.

    If you buy a new motherboard then this would be considered a new computer and against the license terms and you would then have to buy a new copy of windows

    Yes you can. Just boot from the usb and then have it install on the ssd
