Why does the west hate bashar al assad?
And don't say he used chemical weapons against his own people, why would he do that to his own people? It doesn't make sense.

Because he, like Sadaam Hussein, Mohamar Gadafi, and others do not accept Israel and do not kneel to kiss the US Ambassador's butt. Assad is also Shiite and allies with Iran and Russia. The Israelis, Saudis, Turkish, and the gulf states are Sunni and more or less support ISIS.
Assad may run a bit of a tight ship for many peoples' liking, but not as much as King Abdullaziz of Saudi Arabia, and you don't see Obama saying bad things about him, in fact he bowed his head to him.
And New York Times columnist Seymour Hirsch says he has proof that it was Al Nusra, assisted by President Erdogan of Turkey who was responsible for the poison gas attacks in Syria, in order to fool Obama into attacking Syria over WMDs. If it had not been for the Russians, who have a mutual defense pact with Syria, and Assad's willingness to go ahead and turn over his nerve gas supplies to the US, it would have worked and we would be at war with Russia over Syria.
Please note that our CIA, assisted by Turkey and Saudi Arabia had been arming radical jihadists, including ISIS, to fight Assad from 2011-2014. But when Assad turned over his gas, a couple of weeks later.we started bombing ISIS. Turkey is still buying Oil from ISIS and that is why they shot down a Russian plane that was trying to interdict ISIS' oil, thus putting close to triggering a war between NATO and Russia.
