"THE GUARDIAN" Movie Question.?

Question

What happened to Melissa Sagemiller's character in the movie? We see her in the beginning of the film. Then all of a sudden she disappears. The last scene I saw her in, in that film was when the rescue swimmer trainees, are talking to real rescue swimmers on the base.

KEEP IN MIND- I am legally blind. So maybe I did miss something. I just don't recall a scene where her character failed the rescue swimming training class.
