OH NO!!! They called you by your name!? How horrible it must have been!
From what I have heard, they play around with you, making you put your bag down, pick it up, hold it at your side, etc. What is this, a luxury resort? You get to bring luggage to basic training? I went through Navy Boot Camp, and all we were allowed to bring basically was the clothes on our back (which got sent home as soon as we got our uniforms issued), and our orders.
You stay in a "dormitory". We had barracks that we stayed in. It sounds like you get a locker big enough to hold everything issued, plus your luggage. We had a space that was about (it's been 30 years, so I don't have exact dimensions) 3 feet by 3 feet by 1 foot to hold everything, and just a drawer maybe 2 or 3 inches high, and about 8 inches wide that we could lock up.
So tell us how accurate this article is (linked below). If it is accurate, it sounds like a resort villa instead of basic training.
*EDIT* - The only thing we brought to Boot Camp was the cloths we were wearing and the packet with our orders in it. NOTHING ELSE. We had no "bags", no "luggage", NOTHING ELSE.
