Red bump near dogs penis?
I was petting my dog and noticed a red bump at the bottom part of his penis. It s about the size of a nickel. Should I be worried? What could it be? Here is a link to the picture <a href="http://tinypic.com/?ref=2q07whw%22 target="_blank"><img src="http://
this link works, not sure why the other did not.

Possibilities range from something as simple as an insect bite to something as serious as cancer. Unless the dog seems in pain, has other symptoms of illness, or it's noticeably worsening, lumps and bumps can safely be watched for several days before consulting a vet if they don't improve. Keep an eye on it, prevent him from licking at it, and apply common sense. If it's not getting better or is getting worse, phone your vet for an appointment.

Its on the Sheath so its probably just a superficial sore where he`s knocked it or been bitten by an insect.
If you are concerned about it, the best advice is to get a vet to have a look at it , especially if its irritating the dog at all.

It could be anything, but I tend to lean towards a hot spot. A hot spot is pretty much like a little sore.
I suggest looking up hot spot treatments online, perhaps give the area a little wash with some gentle soap and warm water (make sure to rinse all soap). You can use a warm wash cloth for this.
If it doesn`t seem to be going away, go to the vet and get it checked out because you never know.

If it doesn't expand quickly in the next week you can just point it out to the vet next time you take him in for a checkup. If it DOES expand, get him in this week to have it looked at.
